Work Planner / Project Assistant – Technical Department

To support this growth, we are looking for a Work Planner / Project Assistant to strengthen our Newbuild Technical Team. Your expertise in supervising all aspects of new vessel design and construction will be essential to the success of our long-term strategy.
Role Description
Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be part of a small team responsible for technical operations within Windcat. This includes newbuild projects, modifications and repairs across the fleet.
Key Responsibilities
Material coordination: Monitoring and maintaining material availability, ensuring all required components are sourced, ordered and delivered on time for each project phase.
Project planning and coordination: Creating and maintaining detailed project schedules, including timelines, milestones and deadlines. Coordinating the various project phases to ensure progress remains on track.
Import logistics coordination: Managing communication with import handlers to ensure smooth shipping and customs clearance processes.
Maintenance system support: Implementing and administering vessel maintenance systems (e.g. MARAD, SharePoint) and optimising system efficiency and reliability.
Operational documentation management: Maintaining and updating maintenance programmes, technical manuals and procedures, ensuring all documentation remains accurate and easily accessible.
Supervision of vessel certificate archiving: Managing comprehensive documentation for both newbuild and retrofit projects.
After-sales support: Ensuring a smooth handover from the newbuild team to operational departments by providing dedicated after-sales support and resolving technical queries.

Job Requirements
Education and Experience
MBO+ or HBO level (or equivalent) in a technical discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Shipbuilding, or Maritime Engineering.
At least 2–5 years’ experience as a Technical Work Planner, preferably within shipbuilding or the maritime sector.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
Solid understanding of shipbuilding principles, construction methods and materials.
Experience with planning and production systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
Knowledge of relevant shipbuilding standards and regulations.
Communication and Collaboration
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work effectively with multiple departments, including engineering, production and procurement.
Strong organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Problem-Solving Ability and Flexibility
Proactive in identifying and resolving technical and logistical issues.
Able to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Flexible in adapting working methods when required, including responding to unexpected project changes.
Structured and Results-Driven Approach
Experience in creating and monitoring project plans, including budget and schedule control.
Results-oriented, with a strong sense of responsibility for delivering high-quality work on time.
Language Skills
Strong command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
Proficient in technical terminology in both languages.
Additional Requirements
Willingness to travel to various construction sites.
Affinity with the maritime or shipping industry.
Willingness to follow additional courses or training if required.
